Our School

The largest volunteer force in the country

Brimsdown Primary School logo icon

School governors are ordinary people from the local community who wish to make a positive contribution to children’s education. They are the largest volunteer force in the country and have an important part to play in raising school standards. Governors are not involved in the day-to-day management of the school.

Almost anyone can become a school governor and you can find out more information here. All new governors receive training and support from Ivy Learning Trust and their fellow governors. If you are interested in assisting the School in this way, please contact governance@ivylearningtrust.org.

Local Governing Body

Kirstie Barrett

Kirstie Barrett

Trust Appointed Chair of Governors

I am currently the Head Teacher of a Barnet community school with a Children’s Centre and additional resource provision for children with ASC and have over 20 years of teaching experience.  As a class teacher, I have taught all year groups from Reception to Year 6.  I am also a mum to 3 primary school aged children who attend our local school in Enfield so I get to experience school life as a parent as well as a teacher.

I feel privileged to have worked in several of the inner London local authorities including Southwark, Tower Hamlets and Hackney.  I was the Inclusion Leader, including SENCo, for 10 years at a large, successful primary school in Whitechapel and a Deputy Head Teacher and Head Teacher in Hackney.  I absolutely love working in London primary schools and am passionate about education for all.  The schools I have worked in have all been wonderfully diverse and inclusive.  I believe strongly in quality learning experiences which include rich experiences and lots of learning outside the classroom.

I have been a member of different governing boards in several local authorities as a teacher and school leader and look forward to getting to know you and your children over the coming weeks, months and years, working together to build on the school’s great successes and achievements.

I am the proud Headteacher at Brimsdown, having been here for almost 6 years. I have worked in education for 21 years and have worked in 4 different local authorities and worked through many roles from class teacher, art subject lead, SENCO up to Headteacher. I
have had experience of school leadership in a range of contexts and am passionate about inclusion, safeguarding and mental health.

This breadth of experience has led me to develop a strong belief that children learn best when they are having fun and are engaged in practical, real life activities. I also believe that strong relationships with parents and the wider community are vital in ensuring
that children are supported as they move through their school life.

Every day is different in my role as Headteacher and it is never boring! I love leading the school, challenging and supporting staff and children to be the best they can be.

Trust Appointed Governor

I have been a teacher for almost a decade. I have worked in inner and outer London schools throughout that time and been responsible for leading several subjects including Science, Phonics, Geography and Computing. I have been an Assistant Head at Churchfield Primary School since 2018 and have recently become a CPD Lead for Ivy Learning Trust. My breadth of experience informs my practice and my commitment to providing the best possible opportunities for all pupils, colleagues, families and communities I work with. I am delighted to be a governor at Brimsdown Primary School where I know all of the pupils will be cared for and where teaching and learning will prepare them for all of the challenges and pleasure that life brings.

Camlee Voisin-Baptiste

Trust Appointed Vice Chair

I am delighted that I have been a governor at Brimsdown Primary School since March 2018.  I also hold the position of vice-chair and link governor for inclusion, including pupils with special needs and or disabilities (SEND), disadvantaged and more able pupils.

Whilst I have over 25 years experience of working with the local authority in various departments (Adults Social Care, Children & Young People Services, Housing, Customer Services), I have always been very interested in education and the development and welfare of children.

My professional skills lie in management, communications, facilities management and budgeting. I hope that I will be able to offer some of those skills in useful ways as a governor, as well as providing more general strategic and practical support to the school.

I am very enthusiastic about being able to offer my support to the school, whose values and ethos I share.

I am keen to support the development of the school by providing support and being a critical friend to the Senior Leadership Team of the school.

I am really enjoying the role of governor and it is a real pleasure to work alongside the committed team of staff and governors at Brimsdown Primary School.

Trust Appointed Governor

I was appointed Trust Governor of Brimsdown Primary School in March 2021.  I am currently a Management Consultant in the City, working with a range of clients in both the public and private sectors. Previously, I taught History at a Secondary School in Walthamstow, where I worked closely with teachers and pupils to develop an accessible and inclusive KS3/4 curriculum. I am passionate about improving education access and standards, primarily amongst traditionally marginalised communities.
